From December 2018, Les Orres resort will be getting a new chairlift: "Pic Vert".

This detachable 6-seater chairlift will leave from the 1650 snow front, replacing the current Pic Vert lift, to arrive at the site of the current Grand Clos chairlift arrival.

This is a new range of chairlifts, the first in France, from the manufacturer Doppelmayr (D Line range).

Key figures:

  • Departure altitude: 1665 metres (snow front)
  • Finish altitude: 2246 meters (GrandClos)
  • Length: 1432 meters
  • Vertical drop: 581 meters
  • Speed: 6 meters/second
  • Rise time: 4min10

  • The Pic Vert, Bois Long and Grand Clos chairlifts will be discontinued.

  • The Edelweiss slope will be improved, particularly on the first section, to facilitate access for beginners.

  • The Silènes blue run will be equipped with a new artificial snow network.
  • Waiting times for the lifts at Front de neige 1650 will be reduced, and the flow of skiers from Front de neige 1650 will be better distributed.
  • The new TSD will be open in both winter and summer, offering new Bike Park and pedestrian trails. It will be open to people with reduced mobility, as well as to snowscooters.
  • To guarantee the safety of holidaymakers, the railings will feature automatic locking.
  • Construction is scheduled to start in spring 2018.

And what about Smart Mountain?

  • Photovoltaic panels will be installed on the buildings, with energy self-consumption.
  • 35 pylons will be removed from the landscape in the ski area.
  • The noise impact of the departure and arrival stations will be reduced thanks to an innovative new technology.
  • Motor heat will be recovered to heat the buildings associated with the chairlift.

The investment cost is €8 million. The PACA region is subsidizing the project to the tune of 3M€
