Situated in the heart of the Hautes-Alpes, in the Southern Alps, the resort of Les Orres stretches out on a natural balcony overlooking the Durance valley.
Nestled between 1,550 and 2,720 meters above sea level, it offers spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. To the east, the majestic peaks of the Parpaillon massif reveal their jagged crests, while to the south, the relief of the Embrun valley softens towards the Serre-Ponçon lake, a veritable inland sea with turquoise reflections. In the distance, the Écrins massif stretches as far as the eye can see.
The region's characteristic larch-wooded slopes stretch up to the high mountain pastures, where lush green meadows give way to mineral scree in summer and snow-covered scree in winter. This wild yet harmonious landscape is the perfect blend of imposing mountains and unspoilt nature, offering breathtaking views at every turn.
At Les Orres 1650, buildings have been constructed as close as possible to the slopes, without distorting the landscape. Clad all in white and larch or red cedar, the residences blend into their surroundings and have been awarded the "Patrimoine du XXè siècle" (20th century heritage) label.
To maintain a certain continuity, at Bois Méan, also known as Les Orres 1800, the buildings respect the same principle of integration into the natural environment. The most recent part of the resort, it resembles a village of chalet-style residences. All feature swimming pools and spa areas for guaranteed relaxation.
You can also discover the charm of mountain villages by visiting the various hamlets in the Les Orres commune: Les Sagnettes (1250m), Le Pont (1373m), Le Chef-lieu (1493m), Le Bas-Forest (1540m) and Le Haut-Forest (1590m), Le Château (1600m), Darennes and Les Ribes (1440m), Le Mélézet (1450m)
Les Orres was conceived in the 1960s as a "ski-in, ski-out" resort. The aim? To keep car traffic to a minimum in the heart of the resort, to guarantee your safety and peace of mind.
To make you want to forget your car during the vacations, parking lots and shuttles are available within the resort. A little extra: air quality qualified as excellent by AtmoSud in 2013. Take a deep breath!
Symbolizing its commitment to sustainable mobility, the resort is adding hybrid buses to its free shuttle network. With extended autonomy, the electric drive system complements the internal combustion engine, significantly reducing CO2 emissions!
In 2023, a new project sees the light of day: the Abeïa apiary, to discover the world of bees. 4 beehives bathed in sunlight are installed in the resort. They are freely accessible. In summer, a passionate beekeeper offers guided tours of the apiary. A lively, educational way to continue caring for our environment.
In addition to all these advances in environmental protection, we have perfected a selective sorting system. Here, everything is recycled! So don't hesitate - find the nearest collection point to your accommodation from among the twenty or so in the resort to help us do even better!
What's more, Les Orres town council has signed a " Goal Zero Plastic Waste " charter. The resort is therefore committed to implementing actions to make your stay even more eco-responsible (new garbage cans, pocket ashtrays, reusable ecocups, etc.).

How about rediscovering the constellations on your mountain vacation? In 2014, Les Orres became the first mountain resort to receive the " star village" label. Renewed in 2017, the resort is now aiming for the second level of the label, which, like the villages in bloom, is made up of 5 stars.
In recent years, the resort has introduced better management of public lighting. By limiting light pollution, we are able to organize several sky observations a year. The best spot? The footbridge on the Elie Meyssirel footpath linking Les Orres 1650 and 1800. Guaranteed to amaze !
Every year, the resort celebrates the stars by taking part in the national Les Nuits des Étoiles program.
