68 participants met at 8 a.m. at the top of the Crêtes chairlift on Sunday April 21 for the start of the Dévale des Orres! This rather original end-of-season competition combined three disciplines: a downhill run on skis, then on mountain bikes, before concluding with a stand-up paddle relay.
Weather conditions did not spare the 34 pairs. The wind was blowing hard at the summit of the Crêtes. But this didn't demotivate the participants, who ran off to get back on their skis or snowboards. The first group took just 6 minutes to cover the 6 km from the summit of Les Crêtes at 2660 m to the resort center of Les Orres at 1650 m. But there was no time to rest, as an 18km mountain bike descent awaited them. With time to change outfits and equipment, Charles Canonne and Florian Thomas gave the other competitors no chance and held the lead right to the finish line.
In the end, they completed the race in less than an hour, clocking a superb time of 55'34. Their pursuers Fabien Poitivenau and Ludovic Romero finished in 1 hour, 01 minute and 56 seconds. Hats off to Antoine Benini and Emmanuelle Borg, 3rd overall and first in the mixed modium. The last competitors finished in 1 hour, 39 minutes and 11 seconds.
