Partners, ski clubs and holidaymakers gathered on Saturday January 11th for a freestyle competition to celebrate the opening of the new area.

A genuine investment in diversifying practice and developing even more fun on the resort, a brand new area has been entirely designed to satisfy freestylers of all levels. Thanks to major earthworks to create a permanent terrain movement and the installation of 5 new snow guns on the old Prévieux piste, the snowpark should be ready to be used all season long by young and old alike.

The project was partly financed by the Region as part of the 2016-2020 "resort contracts". Of the €3M allocated to the Les Orres resort as part of the Pic Vert project, €210,000 was earmarked for the snowpark. The project would not have been possible without the involvement of the resort's loyal partners: CNA & HO, Cabinet Géode, Allamanno & Hermitte TP, Neige de culture SMI, INEO PACA, SCP POTIN, Equinoxe environnement, Recytech, Alpazur, Karum, Juanena, Apave.

The inauguration was accompanied by a competition organized by the resort. The program included an all-day Jam Session, a best tricks contest by category (8-11, 12-15 and 16+) and a draw to win a pair of Line skis.

Several freestyle clubs (Réal'Team, Freestyle club Les Orres, Freesnow Gap...) and individual participants took part. In all, some sixty people took part. At the end of the day, the judges rewarded the top 3 in each category, as well as the best snowboarder, with prizes from the resort's stores (Intersport, Sport 2000, le Zappeur).

Under the direction of shaper Maxime Magnan and Jean-Claude, the new zone's resident groomer, two lines of progressive difficulty have been designed for a fun and playful experience. A zone of jibs (rails and boxes), kicks of varying degrees of difficulty: this winter, Les Orres once again confirms its position as the "capital of fun skiing".

The snowpark is accessible via :

  • the Prélongis chairlift to reach both areas from the snowpark hut
  • the Stade ski lift for easy rotation between the S/M zones
  • the Prévieux lift, dedicated to the blue line

A bordercross will soon complete the snowpark. Primarily dedicated to beginners, it will give them a better understanding of terrain movements. This ultra-fun zone of banked turns, whoops and kicks is sure to boost confidence!

In the meantime, Quentin Ladame and his freestyling friends will be back on the resort from March 9 to 13 for the third edition of the flagship freestyle event: the Conquistad'Orres!
