Today, Friday April 20, the 2018 Digital Mountain Awards took place at the Mountain Planet Grenoble trade show.
Les Orres resort received the Smart Station Award, presented at the ceremony presided over by Charles-Ange Ginesy, President of the Association Nationale des Maires des Stations de Montagne and Pierre Lestas, President of Domaines Skiables de France.
The Digital Mountain Awards recognize initiatives and investments dedicated to digital innovation and customer experience in the tourism strategy of ski resorts and mountain regions.
Entries for the Smart Station Award were judged on the ski resort's use of digital technology in the ecological and energy transition as a vector for economic development and attractiveness.
For many years, SEMLORE , at the instigation of the commune of Les Orres, has been working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption, in order to help preserve resources and the environment.
Les Orres is a resort that lives with the times, where the mountain does not undergo technology but accompanies its deployment, in collaboration with players in research and industry.
The aim is to capitalize on digital technology and make the most of innovative technologies to consolidate its development model, anticipating the evolution of mountain sports and improving the quality of its tourist services, while respecting its fundamental human and environmental values.
With 162 snow guns and plans to extend its snowmaking networks, Les Orres has opted for digital technology to optimize decision-making in the production of artificial snow.
The aim is to reduce snowmaking output by 15% for the same amount of snow.
Smart Altitude is a project involving 11 partners from five Alpine countries (France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria and Slovenia).
Les Orres, leader of the application and leader of the pilot deployment program in three resorts in Europe, has been selected by the European Union as part of the INTERREG Alpine Space programs for implementation over the 2018-2021 period.
The Smart Altitude project aims to accelerate policies to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the tourism industry in mountain territories, and more specifically in winter sports resorts. The project will be subsidized up to 80% by the European Union.
An opportunity for Les Orres to once again position itself as a pioneer in terms of energy management in the mountain tourism industry.
