  • HOW AND WHEN DID YOU DISCOVER TAEKWONDO?

I discovered martial arts thanks to a film starring Bruce Lee. Karate was my1st sport, which I practiced outdoors, just like acting. Nature is very important to me. Then I took my license at 16. But to get to class, I had to cycle 32 km there and back. So I taught myself and became a black belt. I was then seduced by the elegance of the kicks, the suppleness and the fluidity of Taekwondo. I've been practicing Taekwondo for 47 years now, training champions in this extraordinary sport.

In my youth, it gave me a framework and helped me to build myself.

  • HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE TAEKWONDO?

Taekwondo, in its traditional form, is the complete martial art par excellence. It means "Feet to Mind": the whole body is involved. It's about physical fitness, well-being and self-defence. It also requires great flexibility !

The practice is open to all: I trained a 77-year-old student!

For the Olympic Games, we had to adapt the sport to meet the specifications required to ensure the safety of those taking part. Like fencing, this Olympic discipline requires a lot of electronics!

The rules: no hitting below the belt, 3 points to the head and 2 to the chest.

  • WHAT VALUES DO YOU HOLD DEAR IN THIS SPORT?

Above all, it's a sport of sharing and friendship. Surpassing oneself and hard work are also essential. There's a lot of respect for opponents. I also admire the self-sacrifice of athletes.

  • WHAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR CAREER?

The Olympic Games! What a challenge!

  • FINAL WORDS

The best for everyone!
