On June 27, the Les Orres resort is organizing its 3rd litter pick day, in collaboration with the Mountain Riders Association. This event, open to all, is an opportunity for the local community and visitors alike to join forces to preserve the natural beauty of our resort and its surroundings.
The day begins at 8:30 with a coffee/croissant reception on the 1650 snow front. Participants will be divided into groups and spread out over different areas of the resort and surrounding trails.
The aim is to collect as much waste as possible, then sort it by category (cigarette butts, plastic, metal, etc.), which will facilitate the planning of future awareness-raising and prevention actions by the resort.
At the end of the morning, participants will be able to share a moment of conviviality around a "0 waste" barbecue offered by the resort (don't forget your eco-cup!).
Participation is open to all, young and old, residents and visitors. Registration is online.
Equipment required: large shopping bag, small plastic bag (for cigarette butts), shoes and clothing suited to the weather and mountain conditions, water bottle, gardening gloves.
The Les Orres resort has long been committed to protecting the environment and promoting sustainable tourism. This garbage collection day is part of its policy of ecological responsibility and aims to raise public awareness of the importance of preserving our natural spaces.
By taking part in this day, each volunteer makes an active contribution to protecting the environment and raising awareness of waste management. This collective action is essential to maintain the cleanliness and beauty of our mountains, and to ensure a healthy and pleasant living environment for all.
For several years now, Les Orres has been collaborating with the Mountain Riders Association on this special litter-picking day, providing us with educational material, particularly for the waste characterization phase.
Mountain Riders is an association that contributes to the preservation of fragile mountain ecosystems by educating and raising awareness among a wide audience, from children to adults, through a variety of initiatives. In fact, it recently launched an ambitious program entitled "Mountain 0 Waste", aimed at eliminating litter at altitude.
In 2023, over 400 kg of garbage was collected on the resort, including :
The next environmental event is the Game of Trees Festival, from July 29 to August 3, 2024, which this year will focus on the theme of energy.
