Day2 of the Enduro World Series in Les Orres lived up to all its promises. To begin with, in the amateur category, Gaël Gougne, ambassador of the Les Orres resort, confirmed his result of the previous day and finished2nd in the Masters 40+ category. In the amateur category, another local, Gwenaël Morra, trainer at the PJPC club in Gap and mountain bike instructor at Horizons Tout Terrain in Les Orres, won the men's race. And in the women's category, Camille Perillat of Team Bike Park Serre-Chevalier won.
Among the pros, Isabeau Courdurier did not disappoint her French fans, finishing on the1st step of the podium. After winning the first 4 stages of this World Cup, the Frenchwoman is well on her way to sweeping all before her this season. Germany's Raphaela Richter sprang a surprise by finishing behind the Frenchwoman and even winning two of the weekend's special stages.
On the men's side, the suspense held until the last descent. At the end of stage 7, New Zealander Edward Masters was only half a second ahead of American Richie Rude. It wasn't until the final stage that the podium contenders came out on top. Edward Masters held off the pressure to win in Les Orres in 43:31, ahead of Richie Rude in 43:32. After leading the way on the first day, Frenchman Adrien Dailly finished3rd in 43:46, ahead of compatriots Florian Nicolaï (4th in 43:48), Dimitri Tordo (5th in 44:13) and Kevin Miquel (6th in 44:22). Florian Nicolaï holds the overall lead heading into the final 3 stages of this World Cup.
In the other categories, the French also wore their colors high. Karim Amour won the masters 40+ category ahead of another Frenchman, Cédric Ravanel. In the under-21 category, two Frenchmen were also on the podium: Antoine Vidal,1st in 45:24 and Francescu Camoin,3rd in 46:39.
