
They were eagerly awaited, and they didn't disappoint! Our French riders shone again on this 5th round of the Enduro World Series. Isabeau Courdurier, leader of the women's ranking, negotiated day1 perfectly, finishing1st in 3 of the 4 special stages. She finished the 4 stages in 31:34, ahead of Germany's Raphaela Richter (31:54).
In the boys' category, although French leader Florian Nicolaï was expected to be at the front, it was another fellow Frenchman who took the lead: Adrien Dailly. He finished the day in 28:20, ahead of Australian Edward Masters (28:22) and American Richie Rude (28:23). Florian Nicolaï came4th in 28:34. As for Sam Hill, title contender and already multiple world champion, he unfortunately suffered a puncture on the1st special stage, which dropped him back to 13th place in 29:13.
Among the challengers, local rider Gaël Gougne put in a fine performance, finishing2nd in the Master 40+ category. Charles Canonne, another Les Orres ambassador, was unfortunately injured during yesterday's reconnaissance and was unable to take part in the race.
Tomorrow, Sunday July 07, riders will tackle 4 more special stages, all located in the Les Orres bike park. They'll have to hurtle down 16km with a total of 2529 vertical drops.
