The Les Orres resort continues to modernize its ski area and infrastructure, with major developments in the Prebois sector

Since November 2021, the Les Orres 1800 - Bois Méan and Prébois sector has had a new look! Following on from the installations launched in 2019, the resort has added three notable new developments:

A new detachable 6-seater chairlift to replace the Prébois and Préclaux chairlifts, following the former route of the Prébois chairlift.

Redevelopment of the Les Orres 1800 snow front, replacing the Bois Méan ski lift with 2 covered carpets to create :

  • Beginners' areas
  • A toboggan run
  • a link to the Marmottes slope and Les Orres 1650
  • a "kids" mountain bike zone in summer

Redevelopment of the Prébois departure area and creation of the new Prébois green run, upgrading it from red to green; relocation of the 40-space parking lot to create a new departure area with parking, checkouts and a place for disabled people.

These new facilities meet the expectations of our customers in the Bois Méan and Prébois sectors. Our 4,000 Bois Méan customers needed a vast, welcoming new snow front at 1800, coupled with two conveyor belts serving a new area for beginners and advanced skiers. The Prébois TSD brings comfort and rapid transport to our skiers, and the new green run between Bois Méan 1800 and Prébois (1650) means that departures from these two areas are more fluid.

AN EXTRAORDINARY PROJECT

Begun in May 2021, the works employed more than 25 companies on site, the vast majority of them from the Haut-Alpes.

The cost of this investment amounts to 10.5 M€, subsidized to the tune of 915k€ by the Région Sud Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur.

FEATURES & PERFORMANCE OF THE NEW TELESIEGE

This new TSD is open to people with reduced mobility and to snowscooters.

  • Manufacturer: Doppelmayr
  • Departure altitude: 1626 m (Prébois)
  • Finish altitude: 1890 m (plateau des Fontaines)
  • Horizontal length: ~1,300 m
  • Vertical rise: ~250 m
  • Flow: ~2,400 pers./h
  • Drive station: upstream
  • Rise time: 3'10 minutes (instead of 11 for the old Prébois 2-seater chairlift)
  • Areas served: Galopins plateau, Pousterle and Fontaines lifts

2 NEW 200- AND 50-METRE-LONG COVERED CARPETS

The snow front is now served by two conveyors:

  • Préclaux conveyor (200 meters)

Open in winter and summer, it provides access to a beginners' slope (Bois Mean), the departure point for Les Orres' flagship hikes (Lac Sainte-Marguerite) and the descent to 1650 or Prébois. Partly covered with photovoltaic panels, the energy produced is consumed by SEMLORE.

  • Bois Méan conveyor (50 m)

    Freely accessible, it serves :

    • a first glide track
    • children's garden
    • In summer, the area will host a kids' mountain bike zone and an easy mountain bike track. Other summer activities are under consideration.

AND WHAT ABOUT SMART MOUNTAIN?

These developments are in line with the Les Orres resort's Smart Mountain approach, which promotes a greener, more environmentally-friendly mountain:

  • Photovoltaic panels have been installed on the Préclaux carpet, with self-consumption of the energy.
  • 50% reduction in the number of pylons and buildings in the ski area landscape.
  • Noise impact of departure and arrival stations reduced thanks to innovative new technology.
  • 28% reduction in the installed power of cable cars
