While the continuous opening of the Les Orres resort ended on Sunday, September1, the lifts will extend the pleasure and be open for the first 3 weekends of September. But already, the resort can look back on a more than positive summer season, with overall sales up 23% on 2018 and +14% on 2017.
Summer tourism is a key factor in the development of the Orriane resort. We were the first resort to set up a bike park in 2004, and the experience, quality and reputation we have built up have enabled us to host this year's Enduro Mountain Bike World Cup on July 6 and 7, which brought together over 450 international riders and welcomed 4,000 visitors. Today, mountain biking accounts for 32% of the resort's summer sales, and was up 33% on summer 2018. But this strong positioning has not prevented the resort from developing what has also made it a success: multi-activities. Proof of this is the "Passep'Orres" multi-activity pass, which gives unlimited access to certain activities on offer in the resort. This product is up 32% on last year and accounts for 29% of the resort's summer sales. Hiking also remains a popular activity with holidaymakers, with 60% of visitors saying they had taken the chairlifts as pedestrians, in order to follow the itineraries offered at the lift departures.
"The summer season has become a must for Les Orres. We benefit from an exceptional setting between the peaks and the lake, a very wide range of outdoor activities and a diversified accommodation offer. Our guests also appreciated the welcome, atmosphere and entertainment on offer throughout their stay. Whether for pro, international or amateur mountain bikers, or for families in search of discovery, a change of scenery and outdoor activities to share, Les Orres has become an attractive and seductive summer destination. The events, atmosphere and entertainment on offer throughout the summer have set the pace for a successful season. As evidenced by the 8.5/10 average overall satisfaction rating from holidaymakers. Together with all those involved in the resort, we are mobilized to welcome holidaymakers in the best possible conditions and simplify their stay".
The atmosphere and entertainment were also very popular with holidaymakers*. Indeed, the season was marked by a number of highlights. On the mountain bike front, the resort hosted a number of events: MTB Enduro World Cup on July 6/7, Commencal Weekend from August 9 to 11, DH Coupe de Provence and DH Kids on August 24 and 25, and the forthcoming Bike Park Closing on September 21 and 22. The resort also launched a new event, Le Festival Detox et Bien-Être en montagne from July 23 to 25, which proved a great success. And let's not forget the Festival des Familles en Orres and the free Summer Tuesdays concerts.
"It's a great satisfaction to see our summer business up sharply, up 60% since 2014! Easy access to numerous high-quality mountain sports and leisure activities, with a very reasonable cost and a remarkable welcome, has delighted our holiday-maker friends. The great success of the Mountain Bike World Cup, and the very high level of quality of our Bike Park with 17 trails and 3 teleports, lifted us into the national Top 3. Great encouragement for the whole team!
Mountain bikers, the summer of 2020 is already shaping up nicely, with the French DH Mountain Bike Cup to be held on July 25 and 26 ! And the resort won't stop there: it's already bidding to host a round of the DH World Cup in 2021, 2022 and 2023. To be continued...
